I know, it was yesterday, but... What can I say? I've been busy. I cleaned my house... Well, half of it.
I was just reading a post over here, and it gave me an idea for a post.
I love the idea of a bucket list instead of new year's resolutions.
My list of things I need to do at least once:
Going to the mountain my dad and I used to go to every summer. There are ice caves in it. I've never been able to get past the point called "The Chimney" and I want to do it so badly. Ever since my dad passed away it's been my goal. The problem is with EDS I'm usually broken in July and August, which are about the only months you can go to the ice caves. It doesn't help that about 10 years ago there was a fatality there (drunk people with no cell phones should NOT be mountain climbing) and since then they've made it an additional 7km hike just to get to the base of the mountain.
I want to go rollerblading again. I wasn't able to last year because of the unseasonable heat, and then my ankle when it had finally cooled down.
I want to travel in Europe with my husband. Backpacking. It would be a lot of work, and I'd be in pain 24/7, but I think it would still be worth it, to have that experience while I'm still well enough.
I've always wanted to go bungee jumping, but that one will never happen. I would probably end up in a full body cast... :)
I want to go horseback riding. Last time I went, I was thrown off, and dislocated my hip, some ribs and a shoulder (When I was 8 I was thrown off, and I broke my shin in 3 places). Oddly I'm not afraid of horses, but sitting on them causes all types of uncomfortable.
I want to be an inspiration to someone.

Those are some awesome things to have on ur bucket list..esp the ice cave one. =)
I desperately want to jump outta an airplane.. i plan to this summer, as a "i finally made it through nursing school!" deal. Cept my best friend is convinced that while I'll make it out of the plane okay, I'll break or dislocate something as I'm walking back to the car when its all over heh.
You can do the bungee jump, just use a full body harness so that the pressure is dispersed, that is what I had to do. Or you can do the bungee ball, you find it at the fairs alot. instead of jumping off, you are strapped into a c giant ball and thrown up.... It is a blast. Good luck on your bucket list. Keep us posted.
I just found your blog and I enjoyed reading it. I bought that juice-pouring device you posted about immediately. :)
I am so mad at doctors today I want to scream. I finally yelled at the poor receptionist today, "YOU GUYS ARE JUST MAKING ME JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GET FINGER BRACES BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE 21 JOINTS OUT OF SOCKET IN YOUR FINGERS AT ONCE! YOU CAN'T IMAGINE THAT PAIN!!!" She sheepishly admitted I was right..... but I still have to make two separate appointments before they'll fit me for them.
..... Anyway. I like your blog. :)
Awesome list! And love the poignancy with which your write. Thank you for sharing you life with us in your blog. well done and eye-opening about your disease.
stay warm.
Bendy_Clutz,
Thanks for the comment!
As I commented on MLee's post, I'd go up fully braced (knees, ankles, hips, etc.) and bring some ice packs and maybe crutches just in case...
MLee,
I don't think even the full body harness would do it. I dislocated my good shoulder yesterday while moving a file from my desk to my wall filing thing... I've also been having nasty neck pain so, I'm avoiding anything that'll jar it.
Sweet Disorder,
I'm glad you found and liked my blog! When you get that pouring thing, let me know how it is! I just don't have the space in my tiny kitchen, so I buy smaller containers...
I wouldn't be covered for ring splints, unless I went through the whole sh*t show to get on disability, which I can't financially afford to do at the moment. Good luck with your insurance company though. Insist on speaking to the higher-ups, they're the ones with the power.
StorytellERdoc,
Thank you for your kind words. I should be nice and toasty on Saturday, it's forcast to get up to 8C! :)
