FInally... A Win!

I had a doctor's appointment today.

The result?

I now have a doctor. Mine. The one who originally sent me to get diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos, instead of calling me crazy. The one who finally insisted that my tonsils need to come out, after endless doctors told me it was best to treat the tonsillitis with antibiotics for 4 years... The ONLY doctor who ever listened to me BEFORE I was diagnosed with EDS.

*Happy Dance*

I finally have MY doctor back!

He's already in the process of gathering all my medical files... The ones from our old small town clinic... The ones from the walk-in place I've been going to for the last 5 years... The ones from the hospital, and neurologist... And he's going to go over everything, and hopefully prove once again that he is smarter than the average GP.

I am so happy to have a doctor who won't put me down, or brush me off again.

Didn't get to go mountain climbing this weekend either. There are a lot of forest fires in B.C. and they are blowing smoke into my city, and I can only assume it would be worse in the mountains. I was having enough problems breathing just sitting in my house that I didn't want to risk an asthma attack by going out in it. But it looks like the weather should be favorable to go this weekend.

Other than that, I really don't have much to update. Still in lots of pain. Still twitchy. Still dislocating everything for no reason... But YAY DOCTOR! *Happy Dance*

WHOOHOO! A doctor! That really is the ticket. Once you have one doctor on your side, he can talk to others about your condition and get shit done--rather than you trying to talk to doctors who often end up thinking you're a crazy, attention seeking, drug addict instead of someone with a rare disorder! Very excited you've got a doctor you trust. This is good news. Take care of yourself in the meantime.

I'm doing a happy dance with you, girl! There is nothing more frustrating than dealing with idiots who get paid a lot for nothing.
Maybe he'll even figure out what is going on with your nasty twitching!

I had something similar with my tonsils a few years ago. In order to get my insurance to pay, I had to prove that I had 10 sore throats (strep) needing attention (antibiotics). I was in the office at least once a month with resistant infections.
The ENT doc said that they looked fine and didn't understand why I wanted them out but I insisted. After surgery, he said he almost barfed when he opened them up and they were full of putrid chronic infection. Ha ha ha! Told you so! The recovery pain was brutal though. Ugh.
Now I only get one sore throat for one day just before my period. Totally unexplained but I think perhaps it is due to something wobbling around and irritating a gland on one side. Gotta love hormones!

Sucks that you weren't able to go climbing but you did make a good choice. Would hate for you to get on a trail and have a nasty asthma attack from the smoke!
It's hot as hell here today (~63C) and tomorrow. We have a smog alert for ground-level ozone above acceptable levels. At least there are no fires burning at the same time.

Again, I am so thrilled for you!!! It's been too long of a fight to get what you need.
hugs,

That's fabulous!!! Having a great GP on your side is always a wonderful feeling. I know if I was still seeing my old GP in my old town, I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am with my diagnosis now...I would just be the annoying girl who keeps coming into her office with problems who she thinks is a hypochondriac (she had horrible bedside manner, apparently made everybody feel that way, because a friend of mine saw her too and felt the same way). Now I have a fabulous doc who gets me where I need to go as quickly as possible and listens to everything I have to say without shutting me out.
Great GPs are AWESOME!!! Glad to hear you got your doc back!!!

It is certainly amazing what having a good doctor can do for your overall well being. I already don't feel as stressed about my health issues, because I know I finally have someone competent reviewing my results.

Elise,
When my tonsils came out, I had to learn how to swallow again. Each one was the size of a walnut. I had 2 huge holes in my throat... not fun.
63C??? That's INSANE! I would probably be in a bath with ice water if I had to deal with that kind of heat! I can barely handle 30C -which we haven't even had this year!!! and I've already had heat-related issues.
