It wasn't that bad.
You hear that?
H1N1 IS NOT THAT BAD.
I've been sicker, for longer periods of time, with exceptionally less-talked-about illnesses.
Food poisoning at grade 5 camp? Way worse than this.
The flu I caught when I was 9? Way worse... Normal seasonal strain, fever of +105F.
This one differs from the rest in that there's more chest involvement. Like a bad chest cold with a side of flu.
I would advise (not medical advice, just personal experience advice) normal/healthy people to just suck it up and go without the flu shot. Unless you are in the high risk group, or are in contact with high risk people, or have pre-existing breathing issues (asthma/bronchitis etc.), I would say H1N1 is a lot less bad than the media would have you believe.
I Survived H1N1 2009!
For anyone out there keeping track, I caught it from my 10 month old nephew. He was the last little kid I visited that weekend, so I didn't pass it on to the other 2 kids, YAY ME! My nephew was just really snotty (like running out both nostrils faster than you could wipe it off) and he seems to be on the mend now. He had a fever and a cough, and the fever's down. His mom is pregnant (due in January) and she doesn't seem to be getting sick, so that's a good thing. She is in 2 high risk groups. She's pregnant, and she has chronic bronchitis, so think healthy thoughts in her direction!

That is good good news - over here in the UK having just had swine flu and four weeks later post pneumonia, pleurisy now apparently heart and kidney problems I am feeling somewhat sorry for myself! Although on the bright side I think I am finally feeling better. My message to anyone who feels that they have any type of chest infection post swine flu please please get thee to a doctor! On this occassion I just think I have been a tad unlucky and have no idea whether having EDS has had any influencing factors on my situation at all.
I am actually somewhat childishly for my 45 years a little jealous that you got to write that post - but pleased you were not badly affected obviously.
Take care.
I'm getting jabbed, just for the simple fact that I caught a common cold and ended up with pnuemonia (and now a throat infections, but who is counting). Swine flu? I've enough breathing issues already. So, uh, everyone else can keep their germies.
I'm glad you're feeling better.
Achelois, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. EDS does have an effect on your immune system, we do get sick a lot more than other people.
Veronica, I'm glad you've made a decision about the vaccine! A lot of people are finding the decision difficult.
For clarification, I'm not 100% better yet, but I am well enough to be back at work. I still have a bit of a cough, and my sinus headache, but I'm feeling quite a bit better than I did.
BubbleGirl,
You are so right! Living with EDS has it's interesting challenges, one is the fact that we do seem to get sick more often.
Our parish priest in in the hospital, in a medically induced coma, with H1N1 and pneumonia in ICU. I'm glad my family got the vaccine. I'm simply not willing to risk them to this flu, especially as my son has underlying asthma. I think you were very lucky.
